Subj: Area Info.

Perhaps the suggestion about listing our primary climbing area is
good(?) I live on the South shore of Lake Superior, Marquette, Michigan.
We are not blessed with mountains, however, there are good crags and
boulders tucked away in the forest. Northern Michigan University has an
indoor climbing wall (about 900 sq. feet) which is inexpensive ($2) to
visit. I have rock climbed at many area around the country and have
spent 10 seasons in the North Cascades of Washington. By profession I
am an exercise physiologist and have done a number of studies on sport
rock climbing (see J. Sports Sciences, 11:113-117, 1993.) Recently we
have been looking at physiological responses to climbing on the Brewer's
Ledge Treadwall. Marquette will never be a priority destination for
rock climbers, but if you are ever coming up this way, I can give you
directions to a few crags to try (5.2-5.??). Phil Watts FAPW@NMUMUS
