Subject: MICHIGAN CLIMBING

Regarding climbing in Northern Michgian: There are several small
outcroppings in the Marquette area. Most are 20-60 ft. in height and
are normally top-roped. While the Upper Peninsula would not qualify
as a "destination" climbing area, there is some fun to be had at all
levels of difficulty. The University holds a climbing contest each
spring on the indoor wall. When "in the neighborhood", the cliffs at
Shovel Point and Palisade Head (north of Duluth, MN) should not be
missed! Beautiful routes spring right up from the water of Lake
Superior (note strong local NO CHALK ethic.)
