Let us make the question even more complicated. Since the earth is
not a sphere, it's more like a slightly pear shaped ellipsoid. This
implies that even if the oceans mean sea level are the same, the actual
distance to the center or the earth is not the same. Of course, even
the "center" needs a good definition too.

Also along the same lines, the air pressure gradiant isn't the same
for polar vs equatorial air. So the average pressure at the same
measured distance above sea level isn't the same for Denali as
Cotopaxi. I have found accurate tables for standard air pressure at
100 foot intervals to 300,000 feet, but I have found one stating the
difference from the poles to the equator. Anyone know how much
variation there is?
