Hi Joanne,

Interesting question about bindings. I recently read an article in the
Professional Ski Instructors Association magazine (I think) that was
talking exactly about that. It was a paper that had been presented at a
conference by a woman who was a long time ski instructor and clearly
had some kind of training in biomechanics. Now I don't really know
anything about the biomechanics of bindings, but it is true that women's
pelvic structure is different and thus so is their center of gravity, so
it would make sense that bindings should be placed differently. So I
don't think the guy at the ski shop was totally off-base. On the other
hand, I think there is a question of how much difference you might notice,
especially at a beginning level (I haven't moved my bindings so I can't
speak from personal experience). For me it would depend on how much more
it cost, and if it wasn't too much, I'd probably go for it.
I totally agree with the statement that it is outrageous that it should
cost more that just a "normal" (appropriate for men) placement.
