Thanks for the good story. A couple of years ago, I took a direct hit to
my head by a rock dislodged from above when a rope suddenly pulled tight
between another belayer and climber. I had my brain bucket on, but still
managed to come out with an 8 week concussion. Without the head protection,
my partners probably would have had a very bad situation to deal with.
Since then, I always wear a helmut. The old excuses don't seem to hold
water anymore for not wearing a helmut (hot and heavy,etc).

Oh yea, by the way, I CARE!

PS. Know anything about "Smiley" ice screws? They look like Black Diamond
chrome molys ..... but cost about $20 less. I'd like to hear from someone
who has used them.
